When you go to the doctors office you are responsible for the Part b deductible which resets annually, in 2011 will be 162.50, as well as 20% of any bill incurred in the doctors office. Plan F pay 100% of both scenarios.
When you enter the hospital you could be faced with the Part A deductible which resets itself every 60 days, at $1132.00 a pop. Plan F pays your part A deductible 100% no matter how many times you hit it.
Medicare covers and individual for days 1-20 for a SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility). After that Plan F will cover you for days 21-100 at no charge to you whatsoever.
Plan F also covers any excess that a Doctor or provider might charge, above what Medicare Approves. Rarely do people experience excess, but if they do without the excess coverage they will feel it financially.
Going out of the country? Plan F has foreign travel emergency protection built into the plan. Most Medicare Supplements do not cover this aspect of health coverage, but rest assured Plan F does.
By now, you can start to see why the majority of those who purchase Medicare Supplements, do so for the wide variety of protection it offers in addition to all the benefits a Medicare Beneficiary receives.
