Make no mistake, settling down and retiring in Florida is an excellent, relaxing plan. However, no matter where you decide to retire, understanding the Medicare program and weeding through all of the mail and phone calls you receive around Medicare Supplement Insurance Florida is anything but relaxing. The amount of mail and phone calls you receive in and around your 65th birthday can be enough to drive you insane. Fortunately, the Medicare program paired with Medicare Supplement Insurance Florida is actually easy to understand if explained correctly.
The Medicare program is US citizens’ form of health insurance from age 65 and older. It is designed to bear the cost of 80% of your hospital and doctor expenses. There are four distinct parts labeled A through D. Part A, B, and D work together and Part C stands on its own. Part A is Medicare’s form of hospital coverage and before Medicare will step in and pay 80% of these costs, you must fulfill a deductible of $1132 every 60 days you enter the hospital. Part B is Medicare’s form of doctor coverage and before Medicare will step in and cover 80% of your Part B expenses, you must fulfill a deductible of $162 a year. Part C is Medicare Advantage Plans which are HMOs, PPOS, and Hmo-POS Plans. The “O” stands for organization, meaning you must abide by a strict network of hospitals and doctors. You may also need referrals from your primary care physicians to see specialists depending on the Medicare Advantage plan you choose to take out. These plans are obviously not recommended for these reasons. Medicare Supplement Insurance Florida is a much better decision and here’s why.
Medicare Supplement Insurance in Florida allows you to see any hospital and doctor in the nation, provided they accept Medicare-which 99.9% of them do. Also, there is no need for a referral from your primary care physician to see a specialist. You can go to any doctor or hospital as many times as you’d like without a referral. The only thing Medicare Supplement Insurance Florida does not cover are prescription drug plans, or Part D of Medicare. Those you must purchase separately and the easiest way to find your best-suited plan is to visit medicare.gov.
