Florida Medigap Insurance Plans

Even after receiving all the mail and all the phone calls regarding Medicare, understanding exactly what Medicare is and how it works is still confusing! However, it’s a very important subject and you must be well-versed on Medicare before making any decisions regarding secondary insurance. As you may already know, the Medicare program is designed to cover 80% of all hospital and doctor expenses for citizens who’ve worked forty quarters in the United States. Medicare takes effect the first day of the month of your 65th birthday, unless your birthday falls on the first of the month, in which case your coverage begins the first day of the previous month. For example, if your birthday is July 1st, your Medicare coverage will be effective June 1st.

Roughly three months before your 65th birthday, you will receive a red, white, and blue Medicare card with your Medicare claim number, which is normally your social security number plus a letter, either A, B, T, or D. The Medicare card also displays the dates your Part A and Part B coverage become effective. If you’re already receiving social security monthly benefits, you will automatically be signed up with Part A and Part B as displayed on your card. However, if you’re not yet receiving social security benefits, you will have to elect Part B on your own-either by calling your social security office or going online to www.ssa.gov. Remember, you must be signed up with both Part A and Part B before choosing between the available Florida Medigap Insurance Plans.

Florida Medigap Insurance Plans are comprised of 10 unique letter plans, each representing different cost and different coverage. Florida Medigap Insurance Plans are labeled A through N. These plans all have a monthly premium and cover different gaps in Medicare. In my professional opinion, the three Florida Medigap Insurance plans worth looking into purchasing are Plan F, G, and N. Plan G covers everything except for the Part B, or doctor, annual deductible of $162.  Plan N works similarly to a Medicare Advantage Plan in that you have a $20 co-pay to see any doctor, whether it be your primary care physician or a specialist, a $50 co-pay for entering the Emergency Room, and you also must fulfill the Part B annual deductible of $162.

Plan F is the most popular and the most comprehensive form of secondary insurance as it covers every, single co-pay and deductible under an affordable monthly premium. With all Florida Medigap Insurance Plans, there is no network. You can go anywhere in the nation provided where you go accepts Medicare. Need a free quote?
